U Shape Metal Frame

( Advantage ) Because :

it's the cheapest Type of Dental Frame ( 1 $ or 15 Egp Pounds )

2. 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 ..

Highly Resistance to Deformation, Banding or Broken

3. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻

it can be Present in thin thickness which makes it more easily to Storage and Sterilization

and Less irritant to Patient

DisAdvantage

1. 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗲 💁🏽‍♂️

Which Mean you have to Completely remove Frame, each time you want to Take an X-ray

which is annoying and irritant for patients and dentists Espaillly in EndoTreatment.

2. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲

Don't have a different Size or Shape, which makes it more difficult to use with Pedo Patients.

3. 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 ...

it's rare to happen but sometime during the replacement of the Rubber dam sheet, The edge of the Metal frame hurt the eye or nose of the Patient. ( it's rare but still happened ).

so Do we have another Type to use instead of a U-Shape Metal Frame?

YES, It's U Shape Plastic Frame,

And the Main differences between them are,

Not Radiopaque in X-ray
Have Different Sizes & Shapes depending on Case
Not hurt to Patient

But Still have one Disadvantage ;

Thickness of Frame

maintain the shape and stability of the Plastic Frame, require an increase in thickness of the Frame.

which is not so Much huge disadvantage, beside have other features, For Example:-

U-Shape Metal Frame

- Operative except Class 2 or 5

- Crown Reduction.

U-Shape Plastic Frame

- Operative classes 2 and 5

- Crown ( post and core build-up )

- simple EndoTreatment.

Foldable Frame

( EndoTreatment mainly ) . + Some of the New Foldable Frames have an endo Ruler to make it more Easily for Dentist During work.
